Retreats

Victoria is a 4th generation Coloradan, and after 17 years of living in Denver, Chicago and New York she now calls Steamboat Springs home. Victoria began practicing yoga with her mother over 40 years ago – and has continued her love of yoga throughout her life. She has studied many styles of Hatha yoga including Iyengar, Bikram Choudhury's “hot” yoga, the Himalayan Institute's Hatha yoga, Kripalu Yoga, DansKinetics®, YogaRhythmics™, Integral Yoga, Ashtanga yoga, and Viniyoga. She is certified to teach yoga through the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts where she also received certification in DansKinetics, YogaRhythmics, Holistic Health Education and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Victoria spends two to four weeks every year assisting Yoga programs at Kripalu.

Victoria completed the Integral Yoga teacher-training program – Yoga of the Heart—Adapting Yoga for Cardiac Disease. She is also a Flower Essence Practitioner, a Cranial Sacral Therapist (levels 1-3) and a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist (also see lotuspalm.com). Victoria also has studied with Marsha Wenig, founder of YogaKids™. Victoria is a student of Sanskrit and Vedic Chant, studying with Sonia Nelson of the Vedic Chant Center in Santa Fe, N.M. Annalisa Cunningham features Victoria in the new book, Yoga Vacations—A Guide to International Yoga Retreats.

Victoria has a B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado/University of Madrid, and is a Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellow at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to Steamboat she worked as a manager and executive in the healthcare industry at Baxter Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson. She currently directs the YOGA Rx™ Yoga and wellness studio at the Bear River Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She travels throughout the country and internationally facilitating yoga, pranayama and meditation retreats in addition to teaching at her studio. She also maintains a private practice in Steamboat Springs where she provides yoga therapy and EMDR® to individual clients.

She has joined with Carole L. Milligan, M.D. to create Mind/Body Medical Associates, P.C. Dr. Milligan and Victoria are offering a 10-week, Medical Symptom Reduction Program proven to reduce the frequency and intensity of a wide range of chronic medical symptoms. Call for dates.

Victoria teaches ongoing retreats at the following locations:

  • The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera in Vail. — Victoria offers daylong & weekend yoga retreats at Cordillera and 3-day fully catered “Personal Exploration Wilderness Programs”. Contact Bonnie Lippold at Cordillera (800/877-3529) for the current schedule.

  • Pura Vida Spa in Costa Rica. Join Victoria again at the beautiful Pura Vida Spa—it will be the trip of a lifetime! Victoria needs only six people to put together a trip. Call and let us know your preferred dates.

  • Winter Park Experience: Experience a 2-day retreat and renewal in the splendor of Winter Park. Victoria teaches retreats in Winter Park approximately every 2 or 3 months. Call the Grand County Yoga Co-op (Gloria Murray 970 726-8093 or Deb Knutson 970 726-8782) or Victoria for information on dates and retreat content.

  • Yoga Retreats at Hot Sulphur Springs Resort (near Winter Park, CO): Featured in Yoga Vacation. Includes mineral baths, vegetarian cuisine, 2 nights lodging and yoga instruction. Designed to open new doors in your yoga practice, this retreat is most appropriate for folks with some yoga experience. This resort is Colorado's oldest Spa, established 130 years ago. Massages and facials are available by advance appointment. Call for current dates, or to create a custom retreat for your group.

  • Yoga and Meditation Retreat at Bellyache Mountain Ranch Resort near the Flattops Wilderness Area (Yampa, CO) Featured in Yoga Vacation. The focus on this retreat is Mindfulness – in body, mind and spirit. The location offers a beautiful, remote and natural setting away from the hustle and bustle of life to begin to hear the voice of your spirit. An intention to access your own inner voice and a willingness to open your heart are possible criteria for this retreat. We will limit our retreat to 8 people. This retreat will emphasize “being” rather than “doing”, so all yoga, meditation and breathing practices will be slow, internally focused and mindful. This is not a posture clinic, but a weekend to bring yoga to every aspect of your being. Call for dates.
