PAST EVENTS: December 2011: Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra

What is Restorative Yoga?

Prepare to slow down to heal & nurture the body & mind. Experience a kind of peaceful serenity that leaves you with less negative emotions, less tension, and with more compassion and grace.

Restorative yoga uses yoga props to manipulate the autonomic nervous system into stimulating the parasympathetic nervous.

The yoga props open and close the body to create ease.  Ease arouses empowering emotions-love, compassion,  joy, bliss-which allow the body to relax and heal. Restorative yoga has the ability to counter high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. Restorative yoga is the antidote to stress!

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating tantric practice that helps calm the mind. You are in a state of “conscious sleep”.

Yoga Nidra is practiced in a supported position resting on the floor or seated.  Props help to support the body physically to allow deep relaxation to occur. You may choose to explore Yoga Nidra for many reasons: deep relaxation, elimination of stress, solving personal problems, resolving or neutralizing trauma, entering deep meditation or assistance in unraveling such questions as Who Am I? Yoga Nidra  in essence is a practice of self inquiry derived from ancient yoga teachings.
